Real life the sweeper sits behind the back four and sweeps up. The role is pretty much non-existent nowadays.
In PFF terms I've found them to work well in the past, played with one CB. Not advisable playing two sweepers or a CS and a SW. Five at the back has worked sporadically for me - though always with 2 FBs. From a Legends point of view have always found that Matthaus plays better than Beckenbauer. The 83 sweepers are fine. I can't say I've played one for about 2-3 years so don't know if they are still any good. Though I used to always go out and get the likes of Sinkiewicz who was top draw.
Meant in pff terms. Thanks mate. Big help.
